The story begins in 1972 when Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons leave their band Wicked Lester. They recruit by classifieds Peter Criss then Ace Frehley. They are distinguished from others by their outrageous costumes and black and white makeup. A new war machine is launched

New York agent Bill Aucoin will oversee the group. They record their first 5-song demo with the help of Eddie Kramer. This demo turns into their first album, eponymous, of 10 titles that will be distributed under the label Casablanca.

Two more albums will follow (Hotter Than Hell and Dressed to Kill) which will not achieve as little success as the first one. Kiss makes the first parts of artists and then turn headlining. The band then decides to release a live album.

Alive! So it was released in 1975. It's the last chance album for the band and the record company. Everything is going well because it is a huge success. A platinum album is even awarded to them during a concert in Detroit, which is the bastion of the group's fans. Then they were Destroyer and Rock And Roll Over in 1976, then Love Gun in 1977.

Kiss becomes the most popular band in the United States
